Jessica and Fionn’s Wedding
As a celebrant, I’m often invited into people’s lives during significant moments, both the happy occasions and sadder occasions. One of the most meaningful parts of my work is when a family I’ve supported during a funeral later reaches out to include me in a happier chapter of their story.
That was the case with Jessica and Fionn.
I first met Jessica when I was the funeral celebrant for her beloved Grandad. It was a heartfelt, beautiful farewell and I still remember the love and grace her family brought to that day. So when Jessica got in touch to ask if I’d be part of her wedding to Fionn, I felt deeply honoured. Being invited back for a happier occasion is something truly special. And something I never take for granted.
Jessica and Fionn were planning a relaxed wedding in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens. They had the lovely idea of their close friend Maddie leading the ceremony as their celebrant-in-spirit, while I took care of all the legalities behind the scenes.
Having a friend or family member co-pilot the ceremony is such a wonderful way to add a personal touch. Maddie knew the couple intimately and brought warmth, humour, and stories that only a friend could share. I was there to support, guide and ensure everything ran smoothly, from lodging the paperwork to making sure they were legally wed.
Thank you, Jessica and Fionn. It was a privilege to be part of your special day.
